COURSE DESCRIPTION
Get ready to take ACLS and/or PALS by taking ECG. Learn all the rhythms that you will treat in ACLS and/or PALS and more. Learn what P Q R S T waves are. You will learn your heart blocks and what is going on in each of the rhythms. The adult ECG or EKG Course focuses on the recognition of electrocardiogram (ECG) rhythms.
The course is a pre-course OPTION for ACLS and/or PALS students and other healthcare providers who completed the ACLS and/or PALS pre-course self assessment and find they need to improve their knowledge on rhythms and medications to treat treat these rhythms.. This course qualifies and meets the requirements when a hospital is asking for an ECG or EKG or Basic Arrhythmia Certificate for employment.
This course is designed to develop ECG or EKG recognition. It is an ideal class for healthcare providers who are preparing to take ACLS and/or PALS, but can also be used by anyone needing to learn ECG or EKG recognition. It is a thorough analysis of various rhythms originating and affecting all areas of the heart, not just those encountered in ACLS and/or PALS. In addition to systematically interpreting advanced rhythms, you will understand what is happening anatomically and physiologically within the heart and its associated structures. This comprehensive course covers basic electrophysiology, normal ECG and/or EKG measurements, basic and advanced arrhythmias. This course is designed for a variety of healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, paramedics, residents, respiratory therapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical pharmacists and ECG and/or EKG technicians.
The class is an 3 hour course that is similar to those offered in the hospital setting. This course does not include 12-Lead interpretation, due to the complexity of 12-Lead interpretation There is a brief section describing what a 12-Lead is. An American Heart Association course completion certificate in ECG will be awarded at the end of the class.
The adult ECG Course addresses a key knowledge gap in electrocardiogram (ECG) and focuses on specific ECG recognition and treatment off these rhythms.
The course provides training for:
• Healthcare providers whose occupation or volunteer activities require airway management skills.
• Professionals in the field of resuscitation and airway management.
